“Dear all our wonderful ViH volunteers, as I fast approach holding the role of Volunteer Coordinator for a year in November, I have wanted to start having a newsletter that I can send out to you a number of times a year, to keep you up to date with all that is going on. And there is so much going on!
I hope that this will be the fastest and easiest way of finding out what each of you can and can’t do (by following the links for each activity) and will help me and the ViH Team build a connected volunteer community, plan and deliver great community projects and reach clients that need our help.
This is about keeping you connected with us and each other, so please take the time to read all the way to the end, look at each section and respond and engage as it suits you.
Many thanks for all you are doing and looking forward to seeing you soon at the events below!”
Annabelle Murray ( ViH Volunteer Coordinator)
PARK RUN FUNDRAISER
TEIGNMOUTH SEA FRONT
23rd September 9am
We are really thrilled that our schoolwork placement volunteer Nina has been inspired to take her role one step further and has signed up to do the Teignmouth Seafront Park Run on the 23rd September to fundraise for our charity!
There is a number of us that are going to do it alongside her – walking, running (or staggering! in my case) to support her great efforts for our community. If you would like to come along and be part of the team, please contact Annabelle (volunteer coordinator) or ring the office and let us know. We will be meeting on the Den at 8.45am for a briefing, with a prompt start at 9am.
Most importantly, let’s all help Nina reach her target of £500 – here is the link to make your donation, or if technology is problematic, you can drop off your donation in an envelope to the office marked ‘Nina’s Park Run’.
Thank you for your support and well-done Nina for making this all happen!
We are really excited about our AGM because it is a celebration of everything our volunteers have achieved in the community over the last year. That is why we want all our volunteers to attend! We are passionate that you can all see the bigger picture of our charity – how together you are making a massive difference in our locality.
The AGM is being held on 28th September from 2 – 4 pm at Bitton House in Teignmouth. We will be serving refreshments and there is a really interesting program that our Manager has been working on to keep everyone engaged.
There is paid parking outside Bitton House, or you can grab a parking spot for free on the avenues about 3 minutes away.
We would love to hear from you if you are planning to come, this will help us with planning seating and refreshments. If you would like to help out behind the scenes in the kitchen or serving the tea please let us know.
This promises to be a night of fun after the AGM in the afternoon! We are just non stop at ViH!
We have 40 spaces still available. Each book is £10 which should last you the whole night and there are opportunities to buy raffle tickets for some great prizes. It goes without saying that all proceeds go to ViH!
The last Bingo Night we held we raised £650, helping to boost our community projects. So, there is every good reason to get your lucky hat on and make your way to Bingo Night.
If you would like to reserve spaces for you and your friends,
ViH are having a fundraising Quiz Night, it will be on the 4th November. If you are a whizz at general knowledge, holding useless information in your brain for just this sort of event, or are an absolute genius – walking encyclopaedia… you can’t miss this event!
Over the last year ViH have been rolling out a training program for our volunteers, which has proven to be really beneficial to staff and volunteers alike. (Watch this space because we are going to have some really engaging and challenging training opportunities coming your way for 2024.)
In the meantime, we are really focused to ensure that ALL our volunteers have completed our essential core training – so far 80% have – so this post is for the rest of you! By the end of January we want everyone to have completed our essential core training – the clue is in the name ….‘essential’… so we are giving you plenty of time to get this date in your diaries so that we can have 100% of our volunteers all on the same page and delivering a top quality ‘safe’ service to the community.
This is ONLY for volunteers that have NOT already done the core training this year. If that’s you please follow the link to reserve your space and ask questions:
This is another way ViH want to help our volunteers get together to connect, share and stay engaged, building a strong volunteer community. You can come for the whole time or drop in – make a cuppa and come along. Just save this newsletter or copy and add the link to your calendar, then you can click the link on the day, and as if by magic you shall be connected to your wider volunteer community!
(OK … I know that the wifi might drop off, the screen might freeze, the link might seem not to connect… but give it a go it might just work! One rule – no throwing computers out of the window at the end!!)
Here are the links – save the ones that apply to you. I’ll look forward to seeing you there :
